Poersch, founded KidsWebTv Inc, a web tv production company in 1994. The web still in its infancy Poersch recognized the opportunity to produce quality programming in this new medium and seized it.
Profiled, as one of the coolest sites on the web, Bantam Books Australia, "little.net.books" 1999, the webcartoon series, "Eddy the Eco-DogÒ Online! Unleashed!" ecodog.com, produced by KidsWebTv is widely recognized throughout the world with loyal viewers from around the globe such as Japan, Argentina and Germany.
Poersch's big break came in 1995, when Ms. Mary Hart, co-anchor of Entertainment Tonight, accepted an invitation to be a special guest in the series' episode entitled "Web Surfermania". Since that time, Ms. Hart has been a special guest for 2 more episodes and numerous actors; Keifer Sutherland, musicians; Jann Arden, Chantal Kreviazuk, McMaster & James, astronauts; Lt. Col. Chris Hadfield, Marc Garneau and Former President George Bush have followed in Ms. Hart's paw prints.
The webcartoon Online! Unleashed! features a star-surfing kind of hound, Eddy the Eco-Dog equipped with a zany sense of humour and an intergalactic surfboard, who entertains kids while inspiring these Earth J's (journalists) to discover the wonders of the earth and beyond!
With millions of hits from its "tween" viewers, kids can surf between Eddy's 3D animated shorts broadcast nationally on Teletoon and YTV and Eddy's webcartoon www.ecodog.com to follow his adventures.
Incorporating webcasting, audio interviews, puzzles, word games, riddles, celebrity interviews and Earth J's reporting for Paws for the Planet Daily, each episode draws kids further into the creative process of exploration and discovery.
At the request of numerous schools, Poersch took time from her career to speak to school children about ecology and through this she was able to continue to hone the character for its target audience of ages 6 - 12. The web being in its infancy, she saw the opportunity to produce quality programming in this new medium and knew this was the future quickly becoming the present.
Since Ms. Hart's first of three guest appearances, Eddy has howled with musicians; Blue Rodeo's Jim Cuddy, 3deep, V.I.P., astronauts: Steve MacLean, Julie Payette and others.
KidsWebTv has a Student Advisory Board, comprised of seven teens to advise the company. Rebecca, the youngest joined at nine years old and is still a member at sixteen. The company is active in "Partners in Technology", a program that partners technology companies with classrooms. The KidsWebTv partnerships are unique in the fact that they are with elementary school classes - two Grade 3 classes in Winnipeg at Emerson School and Prince Edward School, when traditionally the partnerships are with grades 9 - 12. This year these 7 and 8 year olds will become web designers and programmers, developing an adventure for one of Eddy's web episodes.
Poersch explains, "It is extremely important to me that we empower both girls and boys to know their opinions do make a difference and to open their minds at a very early age to the endless possibilities of careers they can have in the field of technology."
Eddy the Eco-Dog is on a mission to help children realize that having a funny bone makes learning a cool experience. Poersch, "My mission is to take quality programming on the web to places many haven't even dreamt of".
